I have a thing for still lifes. Perhaps because they’re so rich in character, and my imagination scuttles to dreams of unique, textured, layered tales. And I really, really love them in stark shadow and valorous contrast. If any of this appeals, you will love Christina Lane.
Based in New York, Christina is a multi-layered prop stylist and photographer. I find with prop and food styling, if you’ve seen it once, you’ve see it all. Pinterest is flooded with it, Instagram is flooded with it. And it’s all the same.
But not Christina’s work…
Her still lifes are extremely dark and melancholy, a shadowed glance at a simple, somewhat tainted setup. I’m feeling particularly dark this evening, this week, this life, that this is perfectly apt for my inky mind.
What beautiful, beautiful work.
